What “Russian lips” means at a consult (and what to ask)
People throw around “Russian lips” like it is one product. In most consult rooms it is a shape goal, not a brand. The usual ask is more height and a flatter side profile, with less pillow projection than a classic plump look.
That goal can be a good fit for some faces and a poor fit for others. Bone structure, lip tissue, and how much pink you already show all matter more than the Instagram label.
Before anyone opens a syringe, I want the injector to translate the photo I brought into placement language: how much height at the center, how they will treat the border, and what they will refuse to chase if my tissue will not support it.
Useful questions I actually say out loud:
- Looking at my lips at rest and when I smile, is a taller center realistic without looking harsh?
- Will you stage this across visits, or try for the full shape in one sitting?
- If swelling tricks me for two weeks, when do we judge the real result?
- What does “too much” look like on a face like mine, and what is the revise path?
For a clearer picture of the look people mean by that label, I use this page: what Russian lips means for consult prep.
Shape language still beats mood words. If you are choosing between flat border, soft pillow, height, or projection, this guide helps: lip filler shapes and goals.
I am not a clinician and I do not sell injectables. I write this so the consult is about tradeoffs, not a vibe.
